Editorial Reviews

"The house that cleans itself! To quote Shakespeare, 'That is a consummation to be wished.' This may be just the book for, as the author expressed it, the housekeepers impaired or challenged. It makes for enjoyable reading with the Biblical quotations as well as anecdotes, which may be all we need to inspire us and give us the momentum we need to begin."

Reading it was time well spent, for the book has great game plans for household organization, use of the computer to keep better records, engaging the whole family in the cleaning process, and sustaining a clutter-free environment."

"The House That Cleans Itself is an excellent book aimed toward the 'cleaning impaired.' Author Mindy Starns Clark's plan shows that trying to change ourselves to become great housekeepers isn't going to work; we must analyze the reasons for the clutter and change the house first to allow for the family's habits. She also stresses throughout the book that if a particular plan doesn't work for you, don't do it—and she offers alternatives to help take care of the problem. Even if a reader does not want to follow the entire plan, this book contains many tips and suggestions that can help a person easily get the housecleaning manageable and to the point where she does not have to be embarrassed if anyone drops by unexpectedly.

"The book also includes many reader-supplied 'most embarrassing messy house stories' which, besides being entertaining, let us all know that we are not the only ones who consider this a formidable task. I highly recommend this book."

"I love this book! It doesn't tell you that you have to completely change the way you do things, but encourages you to look at how you do your housekeeping and adapt things to suit you. Without even finishing reading the book, my family and I started talking about it and doing some things around the house that we felt worked for us. This really is the book for the housekeeping impaired and everyone else who feels that homes should be lived in, not just used to show off."
Beth Nunn

"I found The House That Cleans Itself to be a refreshing addition to the homemaking and housekeeping books on the market. More and more women are looking for ways to maintain a great looking home without devoting every moment to keeping it that way. Mindy not only shares what she works for her and what she has tweaked from other systems but also tips from what has worked for others. The embarrassing moments were a great addition. I definitely had some 'Aha!' moments reading this book."
