Harvest House Publishers publishes more than 150 new books each year with a backlist of more than 1,200 titles. More than 100 million Harvest House books have been sold worldwide and millions more have been sold in 75 languages around the world.

Our History

Harvest House Publishers was conceived in 1974 with just five titles and a dream in the heart of its founder, Bob Hawkins, Sr. to publish books to help the hurts of people. Within two years, five of its titles had sold over 100,000 copies and one title was on the best seller list for eight months in a row. By the late 1980s, Harvest House was among the top ten publishers of Christian literature.  The company publishes more than 150 new books each year and offers a strong backlist of more than 1,200 titles.

Harvest House books gained a reputation of being affordable, trustworthy and practical by meeting people’s most current needs in three major categories: self-help (relationships, family, Christian living), Bible resources (Bibles, Bible studies, topical studies), and full color gift and children’s books featuring top licensed artists. More than 100 million Harvest House books have been sold worldwide in bookstores, gift stores, grocery stores, airports, mass market outlets, catalogs, on Internet sites, and in digital format online. Millions more have been sold in 75 languages around the world.

Our Core Values

  1. Foster a company environment in which every person is highly valued and appreciated.
  2. Build teamwork through individual humility.
  3. Develop and maintain long-term relationships.
  4. Conduct business with the highest ethics and integrity.
  5. Produce high-quality books and products at affordable prices.

He served as president of the company until 1991, at which time he appointed his son, Bob Hawkins Jr. to take over.  Bob Hawkins Sr. went to be with the Lord in 2010, and is remembered fondly by all who knew him.
