Introduced Forever My Love by Margaret Hardisty, which quickly became a number-one bestseller.

Became a charter member of the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association where both Bob Hawkins, Sr. and later Bob Hawkins, Jr. have served on the board.

Launched the successful writing career of Beverly LaHaye with the publication of The Spirit-Controlled Woman.

Within two short years after it was founded, four Harvest House titles had sold more than 100,000 copies including The Fulfilled Woman, There’s a New World Coming, UFOs: What on Earth is Happening?, and Redi-Reference.

Bob Hawkins, Sr. served as Chairman of the Recognition Committee, which established the ECPA Gold Medallion book Awards (now called the Christian Book Awards).

H. Norman Wright writes bestselling Before You Say “I Do”® which continues to be the #1 premarital counseling guide in churches across the country.

Harvest House Publishers moved from Irvine, California to Eugene, Oregon with five employees. 

Harvest House’s first fiction novel, Love Is a Gentle Stranger, by June Masters Bacher was published. June’s books went on the sell over 2.5 million copies.

Dr. Lloyd John Ogilvie, former Chaplain of the US Senate, writes God’s Best for My Life. 

Emilie Barnes writes More Hours in My Day, the first of over 100 Harvest House books by Emilie and her husband Bob that are still in print today.

Published its first Bible project, The Narrated Bible, a still-popular chronological Bible compiled by F. LaGard Smith and later published as the bestselling The Daily Bible®.

The Seduction of Christianity by Dave Hunt was a record-breaking bestseller that was later chosen by Bookstore Journal as one of the top ten books of the decade.

Bob Hawkins, Sr. served as president of the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association. 

Harvest House published Stormie by Stormie Omartian, her first of over 100 products selling over 15 million copies.

ECPA Gold Medallion winner, Classic Christianity, by Bob George was published. 

Published Bedtime Hugs for Little Ones by Debby Boone. This was the first Harvest House book to break into the general marketplace top-ten children’s list nationally.

Harvest House published, A Place Called Home, Lori Wick’s first of about 80 books with sales of over 6.5 million.

The Bondage Breaker®, an ECPA Gold Medallion winner, by Neil T. Anderson, was published.

Bob Hawkins, Sr. officially retired from Harvest House Publishers and became Chairman of the Board. He named his son, Bob Hawkins, Jr., as president of the family-owned business.

Harvest House published The International Inductive Study Bible with Kay Arthur and Precept Ministries. It was a Gold Medallion Award winner and the first-ever Bible published on the basis of the inductive study approach.

Harvest House’s founder, Bob Hawkins, Sr., received the ECPA Lifetime Achievement Award.

Entered the Christian gift book market by publishing the instant bestseller, If Teacups Could Talk, with text by Emilie Barnes and art by Sandy Lynam Clough. 

Harvest House introduces the first-ever Thomas Kinkade gift book, Simpler Times, followed by many other Kinkade releases.

Bob Hawkins, Jr. served as chairman of the board for the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association from 1996 to 1998.

Harvest House publishes A Woman After God’s Own Heart® and launches the successful writing careers of Elizabeth George and later Jim George. Jim and Elizabeth have written over 100 books with Harvest House.

American record holder for the half marathon, Ryan Hall, writes his first book Running With Joy with Harvest House and all royalties from the book will be donated to the Hall Steps Foundation.
