Help, Please

Lord, thank You for hearing simple prayers.

Thank heaven God honors simple prayers. My husband and I had spent two weeks ministering to HIV-infected youth in Romania. When our time there ended, we headed to Poland to host an evangelistic family camp.

I was already tired, and traveling by bus for several hours in scorching heat drained my remaining energy. Sweat trickled down my face, chest, and back. When two hours yet remained, I seriously doubted my ability to go on. That’s when I prayed a simple, desperate prayer: “God, will You help me, please?”

He answered. He didn’t send cooler weather or air conditioning, but He gave me the oomph I needed to complete the trip.

Psalm 86:6-7 says, “Hear my prayer, Lord; listen to my cry for mercy. When I am in distress, I call to you, because you answer me.”

God promises to respond when we call on Him. Our prayers needn’t be long or fancy. The simple prayer, “Help, please,” uttered with childlike faith, is enough.
