When I Feel Depleted

Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:6-7

Almighty God, when I humble myself and confess my aching need for You, You lift me up and grant me opportunities beyond my imagination. When I try to make it on my own, claiming recognition for myself, eventually I become proud and self-sufficiently arrogant. Keeping up a front of adequacy becomes demanding. Pride blocks my relationship with You and debilitates deep, supportive relationships with others.

I invite You to fill my depleted resources with Your Spirit. I want to let You love me, forgive me, renew me, and grant me fresh joy. To this end I admit my needs and accept Your power. Thank You, Lord, for the problems that make me more dependent on You for guidance and strength. When I have turned to You in the past, You have given me strength and skills I needed.

Thank You for taking me as I am with all my human weaknesses, and using me for Your glory. May I always be known for the immensity of my gratitude—my thankfulness for the way that You pour out Your wisdom and vision when I humbly cry out to You for help. I am profoundly grateful. In Christ, my dear Savior’s name.
