If you have experienced loss, the way forward can often feel confusing and difficult. But the following excerpts show that the path to healing is not a race; rather, a slow, intentional journey of patience and compassion.

These affirmations, taken from Gentle Thoughts After Loss, seek to provide gentle comfort as you navigate this season of hurt. Whatever your loss may be—a loved one, your health, your job, your security, your freedom, or your spirit—let these reflections guide you to a future filled with grace and God's unshakable promises.

Affirmation 1: I will be patient with myself

There is no timetable for grief. I will be kind to myself and will heal at my own pace.

"You will be strengthened with all his glorious power, so you will have all the endurance and patience you need." -- Colossians 1:11 NLT

Affirmation 2: I will get through this with God's help.

No matter what happens to me today, God is with me and will help see me through. I am not alone.

"Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go." -- Joshua 1:9

Affirmation 3: I will hope again.

With God, there is always hope for today and hope for tomorrow.

"Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." -- Isaiah 40:31
