How Do You Explain the Trinity to Your Children?

When you think about the primary things you want your toddler to learn, the Trinity probably isn't one of them (it's probably not even in your top 100) Most of us barely feel confident explaining this doctrine to other adults. The triune nature of God is something theologians with lots of fancy degrees have been wrestling with for centuries. We might even feel the need to apologize for the Trinity, as we would an embarrassing uncle. “There’s one God but three persons. I know, it’s confusing. Sorry.”

The Trinity doctrine is vital to our understanding of God because it teaches us what He is like. We shouldn’t be apprehensive or unsure about trying to teach it to our kids.

You’re never too young to learn about God. That’s the belief that inspired the creation of Little Seminary, a board book series for toddlers.

This series aims to infuse important theology into your children’s spiritual DNA, so it will always stick with them. As you share the tenets of Christianity piece by piece, day by day, and concept by concept, your children will eventually realize that they’ve never known a time where they didn't have some sort of understanding of God.
